The European Peer Review is a quality evaluation methodology, applied to the educational and vocational training sector, based on a combination of self and external assessment. It is carried out by peers, i.e. colleagues working in similar institutions or environments, specifically trained on the methodology and acting as “critical friend”, to support the continuous improvement of educational/VET providers.
Peer Review has a long tradition in the evaluation of research. In the meantime, it has also been adapted for use in other areas which call for the assessment and development of professional activities. For the moment it has been applied in the following sectors:
- Adult Education;
- Non formal and Informal Learning.
The overall goal of the project is to contribute to the introduction of the European Peer Review Methodology in Slovakia by building human resorces (peers and trainers of peers), who will further act as the basis for the methodology impelmentation on the system level. The mobility will be realised in Umbria region, where the EPRM is used by the regional Government as a tool for accreditation of VET providers and the Italinapartner s a supporting organisation in training human resources for the methodology.
Specific goals of the project are:
- to train staff of SVEI in using EPRW,
- to create a pool of peers (evaluators) for using EPRM,
-develop the cooperation with organisations and institutions impelemnting the EPRM in the international context,
- develop cooperation with stakeholders involved in quality assurancein education and train them for EPRM.
The project will be impelmented in September 2017 - August 2018 by the State Vocational Education Institute in Slovakia andAssoziazione Forma.Azione in Perugia, Italy.
